TatToolkit is a resource marketplace for tattoo artists that I developed a comprehensive e-commerce platform and mobile app for. The challenge was creating an intuitive user experience that serves tattoo artists, which is a generally tech-averse industry.
TattooLkit Mobile App

Mobile App

I developed the TatToolkit mobile app for both iOS and Android, allowing the app to be utilized on phones and tablets from any manufacturer. TatToolkit is an SaaS mobile application, which required user accounts to be built into the app. Altogether, I built the UI, logic, and account management systems for this app.

The app includes several interactive features like the color palette and enhance capabilities that help refine the artist's vision, these features required a UI that was both comprehensive as well as sleek and out-of-the-way.

One of the biggest challenges in this project was adhering to Apple's policies on subscription pages, and making sure that the subscribe page featured all of the legally required disclaimers while also allowing users to try a demo of the app's stencil creation methods.

One of my favorite features from this project was the color palette extraction tool, which was able to identify palettes from user-provided images cross-referenced against lists of actual tattoo inks, to help artists thoroughly prepare for their appointments.

E-commerce

Separate from the mobile app, TatToolkit's e-commerce store was built on Shopify to sell digital products to aid in tattoo design, like brush sets or reference packs. Building the site on Shopify allowed automation and minimal oversight for their platform, which featured over 50 different products that needed to be able to offer instant downloads to customers.

Creating the e-commerce store posed a challenge in maneuvering Shopify's Liquid engine, which hindered customization to the UI. With a little custom code, I was able to deliver a website that offered a clean visual aesthetic with a fast performance for customers.

Altogether, the TatToolkit project was an exciting exercise in creating a market presence for an emerging brand, and this experience helped strengthen my knowledge of the Apple App Store and Shopify's engine.
